TKN-GLOBE: why company details do not replace FCA authorisation

TKN-GLOBE: why company details do not replace FCA authorisation - Recovery Brief

TKN-GLOBE, using www.tkn-globe.com, was named in a Financial Conduct Authority warning first published on 5 June 2024. The FCA said the operation was not authorised by it and might be targeting people in the UK.

A company certificate is not the same as financial permission

When reviewing an investment offer, separate the legal name shown on a certificate from permission to provide the service being offered. A certificate, company number or familiar-looking address cannot substitute for checking the relevant financial regulator’s records and matching the contact details independently.

The TKN-GLOBE warning lists an address at 1 Lancelot Parade, Lancelot Road, Wembley, Middlesex. The FCA also cautions that contact details may be inaccurate or borrowed from another business. The address in the notice therefore identifies a detail used by the operation; it does not establish a connection with another business at that address.

The limits of this finding

This is a UK authorisation warning, not a finding that every payment was stolen or that a specific cryptocurrency wallet belongs to the operator. It does not establish the operation’s status in every other jurisdiction. The FCA explains that dealing with this unauthorised operation would leave customers without access to the Financial Ombudsman Service or Financial Services Compensation Scheme protection if things went wrong.

Keep the offer and the payment together

For a report involving TKN-GLOBE, preserve the message or page that persuaded you to pay alongside the payment record. Note the full website, the sender’s contact details, the date and the service or return promised. If a different company name appeared on an invoice or payment instruction, record that difference rather than assuming the names describe the same entity.
